Patrick Dodson is a Yawuru man from Broome in Western Australia and is the Chairman of the Kimberley Institute. Patrick is also the Chairman of the Lingiari Foundation, an Indigenous non government advocacy and research Foundation, and is the current Chair of the Kimberley Development Commission Board (till November 2010). He is a former Director of the Central Land Council and the Kimberley Land Council, a former Royal Commissioner into the Aboriginal Deaths in custody and for six years was the Chairman of the Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation.
Patrick is the 2008 recipient of the prestigious Sydney Peace Prize, only one of two Australians ever to have been awarded the Prize.
Patrick lives in Broome with his family, and works as a consultant, advising government, industry and community groups throughout the Kimberley. He is also involved in matters relating to the preservation and enhancement of Indigenous rights and culture.
